FRIENDS OF WELCOME BABY, our non profit organization, which supports the activites of WELCOME BABY! received a generous grant from Rotary International to purchase 10 book carts to be placed in food banks and libraries around the county. For families who do not have city library cards this is a great opportunity to borrow books to read to your children.

Donations of books have come from the Burlington morning Rotary Club, the Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon, the Kiwanis Club of Skagit Mount Vernon, Sedro-Woolley Rotary, Anacortes "Noon" Kiwanis, and from Volunteers of America.

There are now Welcome Baby Book Carts in the following locations: Mount Vernon City Library, Anacortes Public Library, Upper Skagit Library in Concrete; Lyman Town Hall; Bread of Life Food Bank in Marblemount; Upper Skagit Indian Tribe Child Development Center and the Sedro Woolley Public Library and the Kulshan Creek Neighborhood Station.  Burlington and La Conner libraries have special Welcome Baby shelves where you can check out books.

Please visit the carts and check out books.  We are now putting out a new selection of books for you to enjoy.  Please remember to return the books to the cart when you are finished reading them to your children.  We've noticed that the books just seem to disappear and we want to make sure that those who don't have library cards can check out books for free. It's sort of like, "Be kind, rewind,"  only in this case it's "Take your turn and return."  Thanks.

Here is Sophia, one of our first Welcome Baby babies, helping us to move the bookcart into the Sedro-Woolley Public Library.
